Sept 10, 2011A native of upstate New York, Kathleen Turner holds a double Bachelor Of Music degree in organ and oboe from Eastman School Of Music and was awarded the Performer's Certificate in both instruments. She holds a Master Of Music degree from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey, and was the 1988 winner of the MTNA-Wurlitzer Collegiate Artist Competition in organ.
Kathleen holds Orff-Schulwerk Certification in Levels I-III as well as the Master Class certificate from the University of Memphis. She performed her AOSA apprenticeship under Shirley McRae in July 2000 at the University of Memphis. She has taught teacher-training courses at the University of Georgia, the University of Memphis, as well as in Connecticut, North Carolina, and Mississippi. Since 1986 Kathleen has held Episcopal Church positions in Philadelphia, Virginia, Arkansas, and Austin, TX. from 2003-2010, earning awards for artistic merit and community service from the state of Texas. An active clinician, composer, and performer throughout the United States, Kathleen resides on St. Simons Island, GA where she lives with her husband, Te Turner, and has an 18 year old son, Christopher.
